Jim and I didn't feel that energetic when we started the hike, so we had planned to only go down from here for a couple hours and then turn around. But the long descent was seductive, and before we knew it, we had descended 1500' into the deep canyon pictured here in the distance. Suddenly it was nearly as far back as it was to make the whole loop. Rather than go back up the steep way we had come from this point, we decided to take the more gradual, but longer loop trail back to the car.
